The piece features a freshwater pearl carefully mounted on a seaweed cluster crafted from oxidized sterling silver. The necklace is 16" in length with an o-ring clasp. While working on a women's empowerment project in Zanzibar, Tanzania, Denisa Piatti saw the process of how people in Tanzania harvested seaweed. She was intrigued by the shapes, taking photos and making sketches. A collection was born.
With every piece, Denisa Piatti preserves traditional handcrafting techniques. She is known for creatively combining unexpected materials, like sterling silver with bold acrylic. Each piece is made by hand from her studio in Washington, DC.
